The mail reader we recommend for reading email from your shell account is mutt.

The mutt man page is available here

• After you login to your shell account you can access your mail.
• At the shell prompt type:
  mutt
• mutt will start and you will see the contents of your incoming mailbox.
• Please see the manual pages for usage, man(1) from your shell account.
